ESKC was founded by Joseph LaBelle and began operating in 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri as a television repair shop. Through the 50s and 60s, businesses who invested in providing TV repair services saw a booming increase in profits. ESKC, however, continued to pursue other avenues in the late 1970s and early 80s by adopting industrial hardware electronics and computer networking into their line of services. Once the business increased in inventory size, the company built a new facility in the same location in 1989 and switched its market focus. ESKC now carries datacom, networking, test equipment, cable, tools and other quality supplies in their lineup of products.
Janet LaBelle Niekamp, Joseph’s daughter, oversees all of ESKC’s operations as President and works alongside Joseph’s grandson Kirk LaBelle and son-in-law Bob Niekamp, acting as key sales director and manager of the business respectively. ESKC employs 29 associates who are committed to helping customers with electronic components, test equipment, wire and cable tools and more. ESKC associates and executives provide bright solutions and quality customer service by offering free local delivery, custom kitting, and custom panel assembly design assistance.
“Most customers don’t have a close personal relationship with their vendors, so we try to keep their needs at the top of our list. We go above and beyond,” former ESKC President Rich LaBelle said.
“Personally, I’ve done some volunteering in the past and I’ve learned that in this world, our paycheck is often a ‘Thank You,’” LaBelle said. “Learning from that, we helped a lady by building a wheelchair ramp last month. She gave us a ‘Thank You’ card. We had learned that she had been confined to her home for a year, but now she’s out visiting neighbors and enjoying life again.”
