HID Global Deploys Printers Throughout Middle East

Identity solutions provider HID Global has announced that it will provide the Middle East government with secure identity card issuance for residents, non-residents, and registered vehicles.

HID Global was chosen as the primary vendor for the project based on the overall track record of their FARGO® brand, a line dedicated to providing innovative and creative methods for the mass production and issuance of identification cards. Specifically, their FARGO® DTC4500 and FARGO® HDP8500 card printers were the ones chosen for deployment and will be issuing out over a million ID cards to recipients in a short amount of time. The DTC4500 devices carry out the production of full-color ID cards with security encoding while the industrial HDP8500 is suited for high-volume ID production with the ability to contribute dedicated and continuous runtime.

To do this, the printers and encoders have now been deployed to over 100 different locations. Each year, the DTC4500 will issue 1 million vehicle registration ID cards, 400,000 driver’s licenses, and around 300,000 non-resident ID cards. Additionally, 100 units of the DTC4500 deployed will produce 1.7 million driver’s licenses, vehicle registration and non-resident cards per year while 100 HDP8500 units produce ID cards.

EMEA Regional Director Christophe Malgorn notes that this project serves as an indicator of HID Global’s dedication to projects that provide an impact on an international level.

“HID Global’s FARGO Industrial Series continues to contribute unmatched security elements that ensure governments around the globe provides accurate identification of each individual cardholder,” Malgorn said.
