Monthly Roundup: September 2017

The biggest highlights from September came from the 63rd Annual ASIS International 2017 Convention in Dallas, Texas. Security professionals, distributors, brand experts and even aspiring practitioners from every corner of the world took the opportunity to show up at this event. As we’ll see momentarily, HID Global, Hikvision, Pelco, and several other Edge suppliers made their presence felt on the show floor. From unveiling new technology to creating new experiences, each supplier has made a tremendous effort in impacting how security solutions are implemented moving forward.

Stepping outside of Dallas, this month also saw the release of new products. We also took the time to showcase some spotlight articles for our suppliers and distributors. Here’s a full breakdown:

HID GLOBAL + ASIS 2017: Known as the worldwide leader of innovative security solutions, HID Global made a huge splash at ASIS 2017 with the unveiling of the Fargo Connect. This multi-integrated system of ID issuance brilliantly transforms the way credentials are authorized and distributed thanks to cloud technology. Days after the reveal, the Fargo Connect won the Security Solutions Award from Security Sales & Integration Magazine. This month, they’ve also announced the Crescendo Temporary Access Card, a new initiative for increased security within government identity management.

New Products: This month saw the release of two special measurement tools. Fluke’s T6 Electrical Tester introduces a new, safe and reliable way to measure volts and current. Backed by FieldSense Technology, the T6-600 and T6-1000 models can measure up to 600 volts and 1000 volts respectively and are made with an open-fork design for easy application. Alternatively, Klein Tools’ Combustible Gas Leak Detector is specially designed for HVAC applications and has the ability to measure the presence of gases such as methane and propane. The detector features 5 red LED’s and audible alerts that increase with gas concentration.

Everyone’s a Winner With Hikvision: Hikvision has also seen some ASIS 2017 success this month. High off their recent success in providing the Turbo HD-TVI Turret camera solution to Spinner’s Pizza, the global supplier of high-tech camera systems and surveillance equipment brilliantly illustrated the importance of having a ‘winning’ relationship with company partners by announcing their “Partner.Win.” campaign at the start of the convention. The campaign lasted throughout the week, which included activities such as product giveaways, trivia games and, their Thought Theater presentation. Hikvision also utilized the convention to showcase their DarkFighterX camera series at their booth.

Spotlights: This month, we learned just how well B&W International cases and bags help protect measurement tools, drones, iPhones and other belongings. We’ve also learned why Energizer is considered one of the largest, global manufacturer of AA batteries. We’ve also taken look at Lafayette Electronics Supply and Electronics Supply Company, Incorporated. Both of these Edge distributors demonstrate unwavering attention to the needs of their customers as well as their knack for building extravagant product lines.
