Monthly Roundup: January 2018

New year, new opportunities.  Conventions like CES and Intersec Dubai have some of our suppliers busy with unveiling new products and fostering new connections.  On the other hand, other suppliers have headed extraordinary projects and procured success with local communities.

Here are some highlights and product reveals for January 2018.

Intersec, BICSI, & CES

Belden invites BICSI attendees to view their connectivity solutions based on Digital Building Technologies. Products like their award-winning REVConnect and their HDBaseT were on display. Meanwhile, Ideal Electrical’s IDEAL National Championship tournament is getting some television airtime throughout the rest of the month.

Some Edge suppliers appeared at Intersec 2018 in Dubai, as well. Inspired by the power of AI technology, Hikvision made an appearance at the conference with their “AI+ Empowering Partners” exhibit, as well as a showcase of cameras and NVRs from their DeepinView and DeepinMind series.

Over at booth SA-AA2, Pelco was also on the Intersec show floor presenting their three partnerships, each of which leads to several possibilities and uses for city surveillance or the need for increased security. Pelco’s multi-sensor Optera and VideoXpert™ VMS were showcased alongside solutions made possible by their partnerships.

Speaking of partnerships, identification credentials solutions provider HID Global’s newest collaboration aims to create solutions for detecting malware and develop behavioral biometrics using artificial intelligence technology.

Aside from Intersec, there were a lot of interesting and innovative devices and gadgets out on the show floor at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our suppliers at Legrand brought along three guest speakers to discuss and give a presentation on IoT development and how its integration will impact the future.

Community Support

HID Global was chosen to assist the Middle Eastern government with the deployment of their FARGO® DTC4500 and FARGO® HDP8500 card printers in order to carry out production of thousands of driver licenses and non-resident ID cards. This comes shortly before they moved to update their ActivID CMS to prepare for the release of the ActivID® CMS 5.0. HID also won the Greater Austin Business Award for their innovative use of badge technology via HID Location Services.

Additionally, Hikvision‘s North American team was chosen to help Texas School Districts adjust to the bew Texas Senate Bill 507, which states that schools need to install audio and video monitoring devices inside classrooms. Videos are required to be stored and released no later than six months after the original recording.

Lastly, Tripp Lite has earned the American Red Cross’ Wesbury Leadership Award in recognition of their work in supplying UPS systems to Crisis Hotline Centers. After receiving the award, Tripp-Lite’s VP of Marketing notes that the power and connectivity products distributor is proud to support American Red Cross and their mission.
