The month of February is finally coming to a close and so has our excellent Edge Conference in Atlanta, Georgia this past week. We’d like to thank everyone who showed up at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead to speak with us. While we were happy to see several of our members and suppliers on hand, we can’t forget about the work being done elsewhere in the world.
For this month’s roundup, we’ll be taking a look at several key suppliers who made an impact this month as well as those who made some exciting announcements that have us looking brightly into the future.
Here are some highlights and product reveals for February 2018.
For the Community
Students at the Gerrit Rietveld College in Utrecht, The Netherlands utilized HellermannTyton’s HelaTape Flex tapes in order to mimic the patterns and abstract colors found in a Dutch artistic movement. The work received HellermannTyton’s support via sponsorship. But, they weren’t the only suppliers making a worldwide impact. Earlier this month, Legrand reached a milestone with their Better Communities program for employees by raising $550 thousand in donations and products throughout 2017.
Additionally. identity solutions provider HID Global has been spreading around throughout this month, first starting in East Africa, where they announced its plans to assist Tanzania with their border control efforts through a digitized electronic passport system. This supplier also rose to the occasion at the Food & Drug Administration’s opioid policy hearing by advocating for electronic prescriptions. Finally, Hikvision’s UK branch announces that it plans to embark on a 71-city tour that will inform potential consumers about the powers of AI and Deep Learning technology. With a few trucks on hand, the video surveillance supplier will showcase live demonstrations, face recognition, and cybersecurity throughout the Southeast, Southwest and Northwestern Europe
Products & Awards
There were also several new products that were announced or released, starting with connectivity solutions provider Tripp Lite, who announced the release of their SmartOnline UPS SV Series. These UPS systems to includes 20kVA power modules that deliver actual power that can be hot-swapped in order to lessen maintenance and repair time. TRENDnet’s PoE adapters were also announced. The TPL-331EP and TPL-331EP2K models work as an alternative, cost-effective solution for wired electrical system connections. Additionally, the TPL-331EP2K comes with two Powerline AV PoE+ adpapers for those who want a single connection.
Hikvision also announced that it plans to release their Industrial Smart Camera device, the MV-SI622-01GM. A special showing of the camera will be presented at the Vision Show this coming April. Lastly, Multimeter and measurement supplier Fluke Corporation received an award for its Ti450 SF6 Gas Leak Detector. The product was ranked as one of the best in the Utility Products 2017 Product of the Year Awards.
