With critical medical equipment in short supply, companies are ramping up production of mechanical ventilators which provide life-support treatment. For some people in acute respiratory distress, access to a ventilator can be the difference between survival and death amid the coronavirus epidemic. Recently, Edge Member Electronic Industries, Inc. found themselves in the unusual position of being able to contribute to the solution by partnering with Edge Supplier Hammond Manufacturing.

Electronic Industries, an Edge Member since 1993, was approached by a customer urgently looking for equipment racks and cabinets that could be delivered ASAP. The long-time customer had been awarded a contract by a very large medical equipment manufacturer on a project related to the production of ventilators, which are critical in this time of increased demand.

“We went to Hammond for everything and they had all of it in stock,” said Ryan Auler, President of Electronic Industries.  “Hammond was able to ship our order the same day we placed it. The order was submitted on Wednesday and the product arrived on our customer’s dock on Friday. They were able to begin the project immediately, working around the clock throughout the weekend.”

Hammond Manufacturing, an Edge Group preferred supplier, is a leading provider of enclosures, racks, power strips, and transformers. Through these difficult times, Hammond is uniquely positioned to continue meeting the demands of critical industries, including medical, utilities, communications, etc. with thousands of SKU’s and millions of dollars in finished goods inventory ready to ship same day.

“Thanks to Hammond and their on-hand inventory, we were able to deliver much needed equipment for our customer and in turn, their very essential customer. We are very proud to have been a part of it.”

Congratulations to both Electronic Industries and Hammond Manufacturing for their role in helping the front-line medical teams during this critical time.
