Supplier Spotlight: Hikvision

For today’s supplier spotlight, we’ll be taking a look at Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, or simply known as Hikvision. They are one of the biggest suppliers of surveillance systems with a global market share of 19.5% in the surveillance industry.

From grocery stores to healthcare facilities, there’s a good chance you’ll find security cameras labeled with Hikvision’s brand. Founded by Chinese entrepreneur Gong Hongjia and HIK Information Technology in the early days of the new millennium, Hikvision’s main mission is to provide customers with analog and network cameras, access control, CCTV systems, digital video recorders and other surveillance solutions. Currently, they are headquartered in mainland China, with over 33 subsidiaries around the globe.

Since the company started, they’ve successfully tapped into a wide range of markets and into our everyday lives. Retail and healthcare have been Hikvision’s major users, but they are expanding into the middle market to facilities looking to adopt smart technology systems such as classrooms, educational institutions, and small-to-middle sized businesses.

Their recent case study with Boulder, Colorado’s 14er Gardens and their newly renovated building is a prime example of why Hikvision is a leader in innovation. One of the biggest challenges was meeting the state’s MED requirements. 14er Gardens needed to send 40 days of on-site and off-site video recordings for each camera-equipped at their facility. Hikvision was able to help them meet these requirements by offering their iVMS-4200 software, a multi-functioning video management system that builds a comprehensive platform around DVRs, NVRs and IP cameras. The software keeps videos in the cloud for easy access, which made it easy for 14er to automate and send to MED without breaking the budget.

Thermal Network Bullet Camera comes with high resolution, several smart features such as advanced fire and temperature protection as well as lens options ranging from 10 to 35 millimeters. This thermal camera effectively increases safety and security measures in airports, oil and gas facilities, and other industrial sectors. Business Development Manager Tony DeStefano notes that their thermal cameras can also collaborate with other Hikvision branded products.

“With heat and fire detection, we can set up to ten different temperature levels. Our unique software has the ability to combine a thermal camera with a PTZ camera to track an object for long distances,” Business Development Manager Tony DeStefano said.

With an impressive resume in surveillance, their products are top of the line. From outdoor PTZ Domes to network video recorders, each Hikvision-made product is developed to help businesses meet their needs for first-class security.
